NORTHERN INLAND FOOTBALL KICK GOALS WITH NEW FUNDING

New portable goals are on the way for Northern Inland Football thanks to a $5,000 NSW Government Local Sports Grant Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced.

Mr Anderson said the portable goals will allow Northern Inland Football to use the Gipps Street playing fields without causing damage to the playing surfaces for other sports.

“We want to encourage young people into sports and outdoor activities which is why we are investing in our local sports clubs and facilities.

“Tamworth is well-renowned for sports and sporting excellence that’s why I continue to fight for funding into infrastructure that will see participation increase and attract more state and national competitions to town.

“Sporting tourism is an important part of our local economy and we acknowledge this with our continued investment in important projects such as our $4.5 million commitment to the Northern Inland Centre of Sporting Excellence, $66,000 for new lighting at the North Tamworth Rugby League Club and over $36,000 for the Werris Creek Golf Club to name a few.

“To build a better region we must continue to invest in improvements to local sporting facilities and I am proud to reaffirm my commitment to this.”

Northern Inland Football Chairman Tim Coates said participation in local football is on the rise which is why investing in improved infrastructure is important.

“Last year we saw a 7 percent growth in participation and we are continuing to see that growth continue in both male and female participation right across the region which contributes to healthy and happier lifestyles.”
