NORTH WEST STARTUPS GET LEG UP WITH BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
The NSW Government is supporting a business development workshop today Friday 7 July at the University of New England SMART Region Incubator, to help regional startup companies develop their business ideas.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, said the “Ideation Workshop for Startups” is being supported by the Government’s Boosting Business Innovation Program.
“This startup event is being hosted at the UNE SMART Region Incubator in Tamworth which was established through the NSW Department of Industry’s ‘Boost’ program.
“NSW’s growing startup sector is helping generate new ideas, businesses and jobs and the four-hour intensive workshop will coach participants on how to develop ‘a startup with legs’.
“Alan Jones, who is a startup expert and the Entrepreneur in Residence at Sydney business accelerator Blue Chilli, will lead the workshop which will focus on core concepts for successful startup ideas, including how to create an innovative project that can stand out commercially.
“Workshop participants will work up action plans on the day to validate their ideas in the marketplace and learn how to test ideas as they move to developing a product prototype.”
The NSW Government is further supporting growth in the state’s startup sector through assistance programs offered through Jobs for NSW and the NSW Parliament is also currently conducting an inquiry into support for regional startups.
The ‘Boost’ program is providing $18 million to the state’s 11 universities as well as the CSIRO – including $1.5 million to the University of New England – to help them work with businesses to boost innovation.
