NO MORE PENCILS, NO MORE BOOKS – ITS HAMMER TIME FOR TAMWORTH SCHOOLS

Farrer MAHS, Oxley High, Tamworth High and Tamworth Public School will share in more than $1 million of maintenance projects over the summer holidays, as the tradespeople arrive to spruce up school grounds while students and teachers are on leave.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said $1,042,721 will be spent on projects like covered walkways, classroom modifications and link-ways between buildings are set to be installed.

“Every child deserves to have access to great facilities, wonderful teachers and get an excellent education and that is what we are delivering for students here.

“Just like your family home, there are always jobs to be done to keep our schools in top condition.

“We carry out projects in our schools every day of the year, but we really ramp it up over summer to get schools in their best condition to start the new school year.

“Every single job, no matter how big or small, matters. Keeping our educational facilities in tip-top condition promotes a sense of pride in our schools and this improves teaching and learning.”

“This funding is on top $1,381,097 announced earlier this month that will be spent on 40 schools in the region as part of the regular school maintenance program.

“That planned maintenance list includes non-urgent planned work such as painting, roofs, floors, carpet replacement, paving upgrades and other maintenance jobs at schools.

“In addition to prioritising maintenance in NSW schools, we have announced the first 30 schools in our region that will receive air conditioning under the record $500 million Cooler Classrooms program.

“The additional funding announced today is great news and a huge boost for the region,” Mr Anderson concluded.
