Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today announced $5000 for the Oxley Local Area Command for two mobile data terminals.

Mr Anderson said today’s announcement is another example of providing our police with the resources they need to get the job done.

“Our police need to be able to transmit information about persons of interests in confidence and this will allow them in doing so,” Mr Anderson said.

Mr Anderson said he is staggered to think that people listen into police radios about incidents and take it upon themselves to ‘sight see’.

“We need to cut down on anti-social behaviour, and everything we can do can make a difference, like the additional 25 officers, the Police Dog Squad and now the two mobile data terminals that I have secured for the Oxley Local Area Command

“Our police do a great job with the resources they have, but there is still more to be done.

“Ultimately, I would like to see all police vehicles have mobile data units and I will keep working to make that happen,” Mr Anderson said.

Acting Oxley Local Area Commander, Inspector Phil O’Reilly said the mobile data terminals will allow frontline police to have an enhanced capability in receiving up-to-date information confidentially.

“Our officers will be able to receive information about the identity of people wanted for warrants and details about police jobs in a secure way and it will also provide additional safety for our officers through GPS location systems,” Inspector O’Reilly said.
