MORE SUPPORT FOR TAMWORTH REGION FARMERS AND LANDHOLDERS
More than 1,110 families in the Tamworth electorate have received support under the Government’s drought assistance package totalling more than $57.8 million.
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has welcomed an additional $355m assistance announced by the NSW Government to total more than $1.8 billion in drought support and assistance.
“Farmers and rural communities continue to bear the brunt of this unprecedented drought and I have been working hard to ensure we can help those who are in need.
“The financial support in this region includes 6,629 holdings* receiving a Local Land Service rate waiver totalling $3.3 million.
“There has also been 82 Farm Innovation Fund loans approved, totalling $13.7 million as well as 173 Drought Assistance Fund loans totalling $8.3 million.
“Drought Transport Subsidies have been well used with 827 submissions approved to farmers, totalling $23.9 million.
“We’ve also been working hard to improve and update rural and regional people’s talents with 97 Farm Business Skills grants totalling $233,800.
“$11,100 has also been approved for payments to charities for donated fodder transport subsidies.
“This additional funding will assist local farmers and businesses, including on-farm measures such as transport subsidies and waiving land rates, and off-farm measures to boost the local economy and support the community,” Mr Anderson concluded.
