LOCAL EVENTS CAN SOURCE FUNDING
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today reminded event organisers across the region to apply for grants under the NSW Government’s 2016 Regional Flagship Events Program.
Mr Anderson said the program provides grants to events in Regional NSW to support marketing activities aimed at driving overnight visitation and boosting local economies.
“Expressions of interest are now open for 2016, giving event organisers further opportunity to both promote their events, and bring more visitors to the region”, Mr Anderson said.
“We have some unique events in this region including Frost Over Barraba, Annual Porchetta Day in Gunnedah, Nundle Go For Gold Chinese Easter Festival, Taste Tamworth and Walcha Mountain Festival.
“These events help to tell the stories of what has shaped our region and makes our communities distinctive.
“There are people travelling through the towns in our community everyday, so let’s do all we can to get the information out to them early, and maybe get them staying for the weekend.
“Grants available include annual funding of $10,000 or triennial funding of $20,000 per year for three years” Mr Anderson concluded.
Expressions of interest for the 2016 Regional Flagship Events Program are open until Sunday 6 September 2015. Applicants whose expressions of interest sufficiently meet the program criteria will be invited to make full submissions later this year.
