LOCAL MPs BRING CHARITY TRAINING TO TOWN
The Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, and Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, have announced a unique opportunity for local charities to access free financial training as part of a special event being held in Tamworth.
Mr Joyce said the contribution of volunteers was the life-blood of any community, so the visit of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission [ACNC] to Tamworth on 21 November would be a perfect opportunity to provide financial assistance to these selfless workers.
He said joining the ACNC would be representatives from the NSW Office of State Revenue, NSW Fair Trading and the Australian Taxation Office.
“Volunteers and their organisations are the foundation of our community and without organisations like the Red Cross, Country Women’s Association, Rotary and the Salvation Army, towns and cities right throughout the Electorate are just collections of houses,” Mr Joyce said.
“I urge any of our volunteer groups who believe they could benefit from this free workshop to attend,” he said.
Mr Anderson said the Tamworth and district area is home to a number of charities many of which rely on volunteers so financial training and up-to-date information could be a huge benefit to them.
“We know reporting processes and financial management can sometimes be a bit daunting for smaller charities, which is why we wanted to bring this free training to the region so that we can help our local charities grow stronger.
“I urge anyone that volunteers or is employed by a charity to sign up for the free training evening to get the latest information that will benefit them and their organisation.”
The training will be run at Ibis Styles Tamworth on Monday 21st November 2016 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. People interested in attending are encouraged to register at askacnctamworth.eventbrite.com.au .
