LIFE-SAVING DEFIBRILLATOR FOR WALCHA BOWLING AND RECREATION CLUB
Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has announced a grant of $1,300 for the Walcha Bowling and Recreation Club for a life-saving Automatic External Defibrillator [AED].
“It is great to see Walcha Bowling and Recreation Club is one of eleven that successfully applied for the first round of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Defibrillation Program,” Mr Anderson said.
“Walcha has a rich history of enjoying community sport and we look forward to the installation of more of these portable life-saving devices in our region.
“Installing a defibrillator at the Club will provide a more secure environment for its members.
“I have been advised that several members and visiting members to the Club have existing heart-related problems, so installing an AED is a positive move.
“The availability of a Defibrillator would ease a lot of players concerns so that they will feel more comfortable and secure continuing to maintain their exercise routines.
“Apart from the bowling members there are a large proportion of elderly residents who patronize the club for their interaction with other members of the community and they too will benefit having this defibrillator close at hand.
“So far more than 430 defibrillators have been allocated across the state and I am confident the addition of a defibrillator in Walcha will benefit many local players and spectators,” Mr Anderson concluded.
More than 2,500 defibrillators will be installed at community sporting facilities over the next four years as part of the $4 million program. The next round of applications opens in the middle of this year.
