LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS
A group of men that can build and fix things never goes astray these days, which makes Manilla Men’s Shed such a wonderful asset to the local community. So when the fixers need something fixed Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson was all too happy to get in and support them.
Mr Anderson has announced $12,491 for Manilla Men’s Shed following a request for assistance to improve the roof of their Arthur Street premises.
Mr Anderson said the fund will be used to line the corrugated iron roof which will prevent condensation from forming and dripping on to the workspace below.
“The blokes at the Manilla Men’s Shed do some incredible work so it’s important that we not only look after the things they are working on but also prevent condensation from dripping on to electrical tools that may be in use.
“Men’s Sheds play a vital role in our local communities by providing a space where men can be involved with a group, get them out of the house and keep their minds active by working on projects or just having a chat with another bloke.
“These men have a vested interest in looking after each other and supporting the wider community which is why I had no hesitation in showing my support for them with this funding.”
Manilla Men’s Shed President Max Maughan said with the hot conditions that we see in our region the new lining will make things far more comfortable.
“Being a young organisation it’s unlikely we would be able to fund a project like this ourselves, so this funding will make a big difference.”
Mr Anderson said the program was funded through the Community Building Partnerships program and he encourages all community groups to consider applying when it opens again later this year.
