KEVIN ANDERSON WELCOMES $6 BILLION PLAN TO TURBOCHARGE LOCAL PROJECTS

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed the announcement by NSW Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner to unlock $6billion in funding for local projects through the long-term lease of the metropolitan “poles and wires”. While still maintaining Essential Energy's regional poles and wires in Government hands.

Mr Anderson said this money will go a long way to rebuilding our region and will significantly enhance business opportunities and greatly improve the wellbeing and future of families in the Tamworth electorate.

“I want our community to be well positioned and on the front foot to secure infrastructure funding from the $6 billion allocation for regional NSW for “shovel ready” and innovative infrastructure projects that drive job creation and economic development of our region.

“I will be calling upon the Namoi Group of councils, Tamworth, Walcha, Uralla, Narrabri, Liverpool Plains and Gunnedah, to make submissions for funding for their top regional priorities for the road and rail network, and water quality and security infrastructure.

“In support of those priorities and submissions, I will do all that is necessary to ensure that the Tamworth electorate receives funding for these projects vital to the development of the region,” Mr Anderson said.

Mr Anderson said that he was aware that the Namoi Group of councils had recently completed identification of a comprehensive list of infrastructure projects for the North West region which was most timely given the announcement of special funding for regional NSW.

“We must ensure that we don’t miss out on the opportunities for economic development and jobs creation in the North West region that the $6 billion fund represents,” Mr Anderson concluded.
