HELPING HAND OFFERED TO LOCAL FIRE AFFECTED FARMERS
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has offered his full support to local farmers affected by the recent bushfires which have devastated property and livestock.
Mr Anderson said there were in excess of 18 fires within the Gunnedah and Tamworth areas as a result of lightning strikes which covered an estimated 190Ha, killed 16 head of stock and injured others.
“I know how difficult it is when people on the land suffer such significant loss, which is why it is important for us to rally behind them.
“Farming is a challenging industry at the best of times, so when disasters such as the recent bushfires come along it doesn’t just cause emotional hardship, but it can also strain finances.
“Local landholders need to know that when tragedy strikes, we have their backs and I intend to do whatever I can to assist them.
“I encourage any landholders who have been affected by bushfires to contact Local Land Services on 1300 795 299 or my electorate office on 6766 1422.
“I’ll also be making contact with a number of local landholders to offer my assistance where possible.”
Nearly 60 local crews combated the fires, there were multiple fires in multiple areas making the operation difficult to coordinate, and management and crews did a great job to get all fires attended to.
“My sincere thanks to all local RFS crews and other volunteers, we are indebted to you.”
Mr Anderson said it has been heart-warming to see the community response to bushfires across the state which is a true testament to the Aussie way of life.
“This really is a true reflection of our Aussie spirit. When times are tough you do what you can to help and that’s exactly what is happening in our local communities and communities right across New South Wales.”
