GET A FREE TASTE OF A FUTURE CAREER

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today joined with TAFE New England to announce a special one-off opportunity for school leavers and the unemployed who are thinking about a trade.

Mr Anderson said “TAFE is offering a fee free “try before you buy” training opportunity.

“Sometimes people are unsure about what they want to do and to commit to a full time course can be a little daunting, so this option of a 3 week program , can give them a taste of what they can expect in that job. The beauty of this, is that it is free, no obligation.”

“I want to see more people get into trades, like automotive, electrical, hairdressing, beauty care, engineering, agriculture and carpentry, so this is a great opportunity for people to have a go. I want to give our community the access to skills and training that they need to kick-start a career.” Mr Anderson said.

TAFE New England Institute Director, Peter Heilbuth said “This is a wonderful initiative and TAFE New England is excited to be able to offer part-qualifications to students, for free.

“In most cases, the part-qualifications can also count towards a full qualification that is listed on the NSW Skills List.

“The training is available through the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled Targeted Priorities Prevocational and Part Qualifications program which focuses on training to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job,” Mr Heilbuth said.

Mr Anderson said “I would like to thank State Training Services Regional Manager Greg Poetschka and TAFE NE institute director Peter Heilbuth for the efforts in pushing this initiative.”
