FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL ARTS AND CULTURAL FACILITIES
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today encouraged organisations in the region to apply for matched funding up to a value of $60,000 for capital works projects that improve local arts and cultural facilities.
Mr Anderson said the funding can be used for a range of initiatives including improvements to facilities and venues, new equipment for arts and cultural purposes and preserving museum collections.
“Regional Capital funding enables our towns and communities to engage more easily with arts and culture and experience local history” Mr Anderson said.
“We already have some great facilities in our region, so we want to both improve these as well as address some of the gaps in the network of arts and cultural facilities.
“This funding can be used for purchases such as auditorium seating, storage units, lighting and sound systems, air conditioning and machinery and electrical systems which improve the usability of arts and cultural facilities.
““Regional Capital funding is provided through the NSW Government’s Arts and Cultural Development Program, which will provide $51 million in support for artists and arts organisations this financial year,” Mr Anderson said.
Applications for 2016 Regional Capital funding are open now and close Friday 2 October.
