FUNDING TO STRENGTHEN SOCIAL HOUSING COMMUNITIES CLOSING SOON
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has again encouraged local community organisations to apply for a share of $1.2 million in funding to help build or improve facilities for social housing tenants.
Round 4 of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF) closes on Wednesday 13 December 2017.
Mr Anderson said councils, not-for profit organisations and private organisations can apply for grants between $35,000 and $50,000 to improve community social housing facilities.
“Funding from the SHCIF not only improves community facilities, but can bring tenants, neighbours and the wider community together,” Mr Anderson said.
“Projects can be as varied as physical improvements to amenities in social housing properties or improvements to parks, community facilities and gardens.”
Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward said round 4 of the SHCIF is the final stage of the Government’s commitment to improve the livability of social housing communities.
“The SHCIF has seen $20 million invested into the improvement of close to 500 social housing properties around NSW,” Ms Goward said.
All grant applications must be for projects that can be completed within 12 months or by no later than 30 March 2019.
