FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE GROUPS
Arts and culture organisations in the region have been urged by Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson to submit applications to secure their share of a new $47 million round of funding as part of the Regional Cultural Fund (RCF).
Mr Anderson said applications from councils, as well as arts, screen and culture organisations will close on 21 September 2018.
“This NSW Government fund has the potential to totally transform the arts and culture scene not only in our area but across regional NSW.
“This funding pool comes on top of the previously allocated $48 million where two projects in our region; one in Tamworth and the other in Barraba received funding in round one.
“Essential upgrades to the Barraba Museum and its collection required a major revitalization so $52,805 was provided under pool one for this project.
“This volunteer run museum requires essential building maintenance to provide a safe, secure and accessible museum that adequately cares for its collection. The project is supported by a dynamic volunteer community.
“The Tamworth Regional Gallery’s TRANSMIT program received $58,500 to provide large-scale portable and permanent digital screens to enable wide community access to events occurring in places such as state galleries and universities.
“It will also support education programs for all ages and abilities. The screens will be located inside the Tamworth Regional Gallery and in other locations in the region.
“Now, as part of round two, with an additional $47 million available for regional areas, we have a further opportunity to secure more financial assistance for the region’s arts and culture sector.
