FIVE NEW RECRUITS A
BOOST TO LOCAL POLICE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today welcomed five new probationary constables to the Oxley Local Area Command after graduating from the Police Academy.
Mr Anderson congratulated the Probationary Constables for reaching this milestone and commended them for dedicating their working lives to ensuring the safety and protection of the community.
“This is more great news for the local region. This increase in police numbers will assist in making our streets safe and I warmly welcome them to our community.
“From today, they will assist their fellow officers in reducing criminal activity and providing grass-roots solutions to local issues.
“Our local officers do a fantastic job and I am sure they will also welcome the support in numbers to their ranks. My message to them today is that this is a great community and that they have my full support.
“Some of the new Probationary Constables are originally from country NSW so they understand the unique needs of regional communities and some of the challenges we face.
“Just as I pushed for a Police Dog Unit in Tamworth I will continue to push for more police for our region which is why we are starting a regional recruitment drive.
“Recruiting to regional areas is always a challenge and I would like to encourage anyone in our community who is thinking about a career in the police force to contact their local police station. The more regional people joining the police force, the better chance we have of them coming back.
“This Government understands the unique policing requirements of rural and regional NSW and we will continue to push for the resources they need,” Mr Anderson concluded.
