EXTENDED SUNDAY TRADING HOURS FOR PUBS AND CLUBS DURING FESTIVAL
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has today announced hotels and registered clubs in Tamworth will be able to open until midnight during the Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival following NSW Government approval to extend festival Sunday trading hours by two hours.
Mr Anderson said the decision is timely with hotels and clubs able to take advantage of the extended trading hours this Sunday for the first weekend of the Country Music Festival.
“The extension of Sunday trading for the Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival will allow both residents and our many visitors to enjoy themselves in safe and controlled licensed environments without having to cut their celebrations short.
“Our local venues do an incredible job keeping patrons safe so it’s great to see them rewarded with these extended trading hours.
“The beauty of this decision is the positive flow on effects it can have, with venues able to pay musicians for extra performance time and casual staff able to secure extra hours.
Tamworth and District Liquor Accord Chairman Roger Rumble has welcomed the decision by the NSW Government saying it gives local pubs and clubs a better opportunity to provide a good festival experience to locals and visitors.
“Having an extra couple of hours up your sleeve means that venues can safely move patrons on after a band finishes rather than rush patrons out the door, it also provides more options for venues wishing to trade longer during the festival.”
Mr Anderson said venues will continue to be subject to regulatory controls under the Liquor Act to ensure alcohol is sold and supplied responsibly.
Individual hotels and clubs must still comply with any previously imposed trading restrictions or other conditions that apply to their licences under the Liquor Act or imposed by the local council under planning laws.
