ELVIS EXPRESS ALL SHOOK UP WITH NEW TAMWORTH SERVICE IN 2018
Tamworth will have its very own ‘Elvis Express’ in 2018 with a special coach service to operate to the annual Parkes Elvis Festival next January.
Member for Tamworth and Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads, Maritime and Transport Kevin Anderson announced today that tickets for the NSW TrainLink Elvis Express Coach from Tamworth will go on sale on Tuesday 12 September.
“This is great news for Elvis fans in the north west, with a dedicated Elvis Express Coach running for the first time in 2018,” Mr Anderson said.
“The site of the Elvis Express Train being welcomed to town has become famous around the world and festival goers on Tamworth’s Elvis Express Coach will also be part of the arrival celebrations at Parkes Station in January.
“This is one of NSW’s iconic regional events and the new Elvis Express Coach from Tamworth will allow more people to get to Parkes in comfort and enjoy the fun atmosphere with other Elvis fans on the way there.
“Just like on the train we expect there will be many Elvis and Priscilla lookalikes boarding the coach and making it a colourful journey to Parkes, this year inspired by the Festival theme celebrating 50 years since the ’68 comeback.
“As well as providing a convenient link to the Festival from Tamworth, people from around the north west will be able to join the coach off the regular morning NSW TrainLink services from Armidale and Inverell.
“The Elvis Express XPT has been running from Sydney since 2006 and with its rich music heritage Tamworth is a logical choice for a new regional link to the Festival.”
Mr Anderson said people keen to buy a ticket on the Elvis Express Coach can contact NSW TrainLink on 13 22 32 from 10am on Tuesday 12 September.
“Tickets for the Elvis Express train normally sell out within hours of going on sale so I encourage people to book early if they want to secure a seat on the inaugural coach from Tamworth.
Tickets cost $212 and include return coach ticket (travel to Parkes on Thursday 11 January 2018 and return on Monday 15 January 2018), Festival show bag, ticket to an Elvis tribute show on Sunday night, plus unlimited access to Festival shuttle services around Parkes.
