DOUBLE THE COMMITMENT FOR SPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed the announcement today that the NSW Government will double their commitment to improving regional sports infrastructure with an additional $100 million in funding now available for sports projects in regional and remote communities.
Mr Anderson said the Tamworth electorate has already seen a huge influx of funding from the Stronger Country Communities Fund and this additional boost of $100 million will be welcome news to our local community.
“Each Council in the Tamworth electorate will receive double the amount that they received in Round 1 and I look forward to working closely with them to deliver on the projects that are so important to our communities.
“We want to see our communities get the very best sporting facilities which is why I continue to ensure that our community reaps the benefits of these funding programs,” Mr Anderson said.
“Whether it’s improving the sports grounds in Walcha, building the Northern Inland Centre of Sporting Excellence in Tamworth or upgrading the swimming pool in Werris Creek, I want to build the sporting facilities for now and for generations to come.
“Some of our nation’s greatest sporting heroes come from regional areas so by investing in the sporting infrastructure we’re investing in our future sporting stars.”
Mr Anderson said the additional $100 million would be available for local councils and sporting groups to construct new or refurbish existing local sporting infrastructure.
