Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson used question time in the NSW Parliament today to highlight the recent announcement of $850,000 towards an inclusive playground at Wolseley Park in Gunnedah, funded through the $200 million Stronger Country Communities Fund.

Mr Anderson said the funding that has been reserved for projects solely in regional NSW continues to fund important projects right across the Tamworth electorate.

“There is no question, we are turbo-charging the Tamworth electorate by delivering infrastructure projects that many could only ever dream of,” Mr Anderson said.

“Right across the Tamworth electorate we are building our communities for the future by investing in the projects that matter.”

Following a question from Mr Anderson, Deputy Premier John Barilaro outlined the importance of this funding to regional communities and said the inclusive playground will make a real difference in Gunnedah.

“The new $850,000 playground is considered a game-changer for inclusion in the Gunnedah Shire,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Currently, local children with special needs are unable to join in spontaneous play and are therefore excluded.”

Mr Anderson said this is just one example of how record investment from the NSW Government is changing communities.

“In Walcha we’ve also provided $660,000 to rebuild the community preschool building and $108,774 to improve the local sportsgrounds, two important projects that will improve the lives of people living in the small community.

“We’re not done yet, I have Werris Creek in my sights for a major infrastructure project and the Tamworth Regional Council area will also see a massive benefit through the regionally exclusive funding.”

The Stronger Country Communities Fund is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for regional communities to benefit from a significant investment in the things that make our towns and regional cities the kinds of places we love to live in, work and visit.
