CRIME TRENDS CONTINUE TO FALL IN TAMWORTH ELECTORATE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed the latest Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOSCAR) data showing major crime categories continue to trend down in the region.
Mr Anderson said the Oxley Local Area Command and the community have done a great job working together to drive down crime.
“In the Tamworth electorate, there are some impressive downward trends in crime including:
- Malicious damage to property is down 11.0% (Tamworth Regional LGA)
- Fraud is down 43.3% (Tamworth Regional LGA)
- Malicious damage to property is down 34.8% (Gunnedah LGA)
“It’s encouraging to see crime decrease and especially in relation to fraud.
“The numbers are not so good for stealing from motor vehicles which has risen 14.1% (Tamworth Regional LGA).
“Thefts from cars are often due to valuables being left in plain sight, or doors and windows being left unlocked.
“The community can play its part to minimise their risk of becoming a target by ensuring their possessions are stored safely and securely. We need to make it has hard as possible for opportunistic thieves.
“I congratulate our police officers for their good work in cracking down on crime across the electorate.
“Our police continue to do fantastic job in the local community and I thank them for their efforts in the fight against crime,” Mr Anderson said.
