CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed International Day for People with Disability and has encouraged local residents to get involved.
Mr Anderson said “Today, on International Day of People with Disability, we celebrate and recognise the achievements, contributions and abilities of people with disability.
“It is about recognising people for what their abilities are, rather than their disability.
“One of the NSW Government's priorities is to increase opportunities for people with disability to assist them in realising their potential,” Mr Anderson said.
The Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign has been celebrating the achievements, and raising awareness of the barriers to participation, for people with disability throughout the month in the lead up to International Day for People with Disability.
“Celebrating International Day of People with Disability draws attention to the diversity and ability of people with disability.
“The focus of this year’s Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign is encouraging people to make a conscious effort every day to build inclusive communities.
“There are a number of events and celebrations taking place in the Tamworth electorate and I strongly encourage the community to get involved,” Mr Anderson added.
