CLASSY FINISH - FARRER UPGRADES OFFICIALLY OPENED
A new industrial technology building, for wood and metal work as well as new and refurbished boarding accommodation at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School was officially opened today by the Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson.
“This is such great news for Farrer, the students, parents and supporters.
“As well as the improved classroom space the boarding students will benefit from brand new and refurbished boarding accommodation which will provide a more pleasant environment for students living away from their family.
“A good boarding house is also the foundation for the many long-lasting friendships and memories that are forged through becoming part of the Farrer family.
“This upgrade has also delivered a state of the art industrial technology building.
“A number of subjects will be taught from this building, including information technology, industrial technology – timber, industrial technology – metal, engineering studies, and Stage 6 industrial technology.
“The classrooms and surrounds incorporate open planning and break out spaces, while the upgrade to the boarding house contains new, innovative furnishings and the latest in technology.
“Farrer is one of the few agricultural public boarding schools in NSW which is why we continue to invest in improvements.
“I’m always thinking of ways we can build a better region and it’s important to continue investing in our children’s future which is what we are doing right here.
“This project is a part of the record commitment to education across the state, which will see a massive $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects beginning in the next two years.
“Recently I inspected the start of the upgrading and expanding of the Tamworth Public School to provide additional seven new classrooms, a new hall, a staff room and a new arts and crafts area to address enrolment growth,” Mr Anderson concluded.
