BUDGET 2017: FARRER MEMORIAL AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL AND TAMWORTH PUBLIC SCHOOL SECURES BUDGET FUNDING
Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and Tamworth Public School will receive funding through this year’s NSW Government Budget.
The Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School Stage 2 project will involve upgrading and expanding boarding accommodation at the high school.
The works at Tamworth Public School will involve upgrading and expanding the school to provide additional new permanent teaching spaces to address enrolment growth.
These projects are a part of the NSW Government’s record commitment to education across the state, which will see a massive $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects commencing in the next two years.
Since coming to office in 2011 the NSW Liberal-Nationals Government has announced one relocated school and four major school upgrades in the Tamworth electorate alone.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson welcomed the funding for the projects to meet the needs of local students.
“The NSW Government is delivering the facilities and resources that rural and regional students need to ensure they get the best quality education possible,” Mr Barilaro said.
“These upgrades will help provide the school facilities our community needs and deserves,” Mr Anderson said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said NSW public schools are expected to enrol an additional 164,000 students by 2031, and projects like this will ensure the needs of the growing student population are met.
“This project will ensure students and staff have the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century,” Mr Stokes said.
“The NSW Government is working hard to provide high-quality education facilities for students and their communities now and into the future.”
Planning for Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School is already well underway, and new funding this year will progress the planning of the Tamworth Public School. The funding for the projects will be confirmed after the tender process for works has been completed.
