STRONG INVESTMENT FOR A GREATER GUNNEDAH
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has welcomed significant investment for key projects for Gunnedah in today’s 2016 NSW State Budget.
Mr Anderson said that Gunnedah has secured over $10.8million for a range of projects that will see improvements in infrastructure and services across the area.
“I am pleased to announce that everything we worked hard for in this year’s budget has been delivered.
“Projects that have been really important to the community like health, law and order and transport as well as front line services make up a large part of Gunnedah’s budget.
“As part of the work being done on our Gunnedah TAFE strategy I’m excited to announce that the Gunnedah TAFE campus will be upgraded.”
Other key funded projects for Gunnedah in this year’s budget include:
$4million to commence construction of the second Gunnedah Overpass
$2million for the upgrade to Gunnedah Hospital
$1.8million for the refurbishment of Gunnedah Police Station
$2.5million for upgrades the Oxley Highway including overtaking lanes
$694,000 for local road maintenance
$202,000 to install roundabout at Marquis Street and Hunter Street
“This is a great budget for Gunnedah. It is evident that the NSW Government recognises that a strong Gunnedah is good for the Tamworth electorate.
“I’m extremely pleased to see funding for projects like the continuation of the Gunnedah Overpass, the Gunnedah Police Station and the Gunnedah Hospital as well as nearly $400,000 for Gunnedah Community Transport.
“These are projects that we have worked hard on to ensure that Gunnedah continues to thrive.
“I make no secrets about my commitment to delivering funding for a greater Gunnedah and the investment announced today reflects the commitment to building a better region so that we can create a positive impact on the lives of those who live in Gunnedah,” Mr Anderson concluded.
