ANDERSON WELCOMES NEW ELECTRIC BEDS FOR HOSPITALS
IN THE TAMWORTH ELECTORATE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today welcomed the announcement of new electric beds to replace manual beds at Barraba, Gunnedah, Manilla and Tamworth Hospitals.
Mr Anderson said the new beds form part of Hunter New England Local Health District’s $3.3 million bed replacement program.
“The NSW Liberals & Nationals came to the election promising to give locals a bigger say in the future of their health care.
“As a result, Hunter New England Local Health District has been given the support and the budget to make decisions in the best interests of our community, Mr Anderson said.
The following Hospitals in the Tamworth electorate will receive beds as part of the Hunter New England Local Health District’s $3.3 million bed replacement program:
- Barraba- 7
- Manilla- 12
Mr Anderson said that he has no doubt that the new beds will greatly benefit staff and patients.
“Hunter New England Local Health District will deliver 859 new electric beds, including bariatric and maternity beds, to hospitals across the region.
“The beds can lower almost to ground level which is helpful for older members of our community.
“As the beds are user-friendly with hand controls, staff will be safer when assisting patients.
“Patients will also be much more comfortable as a result of this investment of state-of-the-art equipment.
“The new beds cost between $1,500 and $27,000 each and will modernise the care provided at our local hospitals.
“I’m pleased to see local decision-making resulting in enhanced support for patients.
“I applaud the District and am delighted to see first-class equipment being put to good use in our hospitals,” Mr Anderson concluded.
