ANDERSON TO PUSH FOR DEFIBRILLATORS AT SPORTS GROUNDS
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson yesterday met with community member Greg Vella and Paramedic, Inspector Ray Tait to discuss the idea of having defibrillators available at all sporting grounds in the Tamworth electorate.
Mr Anderson said Mr Vella had brought the idea to his attention as a concerned member of the community.
“It was a great opportunity to discuss the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) with an expert such as Inspector Tait,” Mr Anderson said.
Mr Vella said he, like many other people in the area, have children that play sport or play sport themselves, and it had been suggested to him to have defibrillators at sporting grounds.
“I had been made aware that if the need arise, there would be no equipment available and people would have to wait for an ambulance and waiting for just a few short minutes could make a considerable difference in the outcome of someone’s life,” Mr Vella said.
Mr Anderson said “This is a wonderful initiative and I commend Mr Vella on his eagerness to make a difference.
“I also ask the community to give feedback on the idea of having defibrillators at sporting grounds on my Facebook page.”
