ANDERSON TO PLAY AT ROLL OF RENOWN CONCERT
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today attended the special announcement of the Roll of Renown inductee for 2015.
Mr Anderson said that the Boy from the Bush, Lee Kernaghan, will become the youngest ever artist to be inducted to the Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown in January 2015.
“Lee will be joining the likes of Slim Dusty, Buddy Williams, the Emmanuel Brothers and Jimmy Little.
“It was also announced today that to highlight the significance of the Roll of Renown Concert, the special show will move to a night-time event to be held at the Tamworth Town Hall, be broadcast live on 88.9FM and will be the first major event of the 2015 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
“Today’s announcement brought home how close the festival is and that the excitement is building,” Mr Anderson said.
Since 1978 the Australian country music industry has honoured individuals who have given a lifetime to country music through performances, recording and personal appearances and enhanced the integrity of the genre by elevating them to the prestigious Australasian Country Music Roll of Renown, with a plaque on the granite boulders now located outside the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre.
“There will be a star-studded line up at the Roll of Renown concert on January 17 performing the great songs of yesteryear and I am honoured and thrilled to be part of that special show.
“The concert will be directed by Jon Wolfe, with an all-star backing band led by music director Alwyn Aurisch and it’s great to see that there is very strong support for the event at a local level. I congratulate the ACMF president Eric Scott for his vision and the push to lift the events profile. It will be a spectacular showcase.” Mr Anderson said.
