ANDERSON PRAISES LOCAL WORKERS
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has praised the work of QantasLink maintenance employee’s at today’s announcement of the expansion of the heavy maintenance facility at Tamworth Regional Airport.
The upgrade means that QantasLink will now double the amount of aircraft that are serviced and maintained in Tamworth.
Mr Anderson said that currently QantasLink employs 100 people at the Tamworth facility with a further 25 jobs to come on line.
“This clearly demonstrates that our highly skilled workers right here in Tamworth are the best. They have proven to management that they are efficient with excellent productivity rates and can match any competitor anywhere.
“This is wonderful news for Tamworth and this further investment by QantasLink can be directly related to the company having faith in their crew in Tamworth, and emphasises our reputation for aviation engineering excellence.
“I thank and congratulate each and every one of them from the hangar floor to the administration office for their dedication and commitment to their job.” Mr Anderson said.
Manager, Base Maintenance QantasLink Tamworth, Glen Reedy said that the announcement today will be a great development opportunity, with many of the current maintenance crew stepping up into leadership roles.
“The Tamworth team do a fantastic job, further demonstrating that Tamworth is the best maintenance facility for turbo-prop aircraft in Australia,” Mr Reedy said.
Mr Anderson said with QantasLink conducting 100 per cent of its heavy maintenance in Australia, the additional hanger will ensure that the future of the facility in Tamworth is secure. It will also provide job security and opportunities for others to enter the aviation industry well into the future.
