ANDERSON GETS FRESH LOOK AT MANELLAE LODGE MANILLA
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson recently toured the Manilla MPS to look at the facilities and thank staff for their efforts.
Mr Anderson met with Hunter New England Local Health District Peel Cluster Manager Kylie Whitford and Acting Nurse Unit Manager of the Manilla MPS, Jenni Thompson.
Mr Anderson said “Our smaller local hospitals play a very important role in our community and I am always keen to visit and thank staff who do a wonderful job.
“Being a multipurpose service, the 57 bed facility includes residential aged care and acute beds and delivers a wide range of services from aged care through to daily clinics.
“It also incorporates a HealthOne service, where local Doctors see patients and allied health providers deliver physiotherapy, dentistry, optometry, speech pathology, dietician and audio services.
“In July 2012 Manellae Lodge which was a stand-alone aged care facility, became part of the MPS under the control of the local health district.
“I was particularly keen to revisit the facility and talk to a number of residents who told me they would love to see the place freshened up.
“I gave the residents an undertaking that if I there was any opportunity to find funding to brighten up their accommodation and take care of minor maintenance then I would certainly push for it as this is part of my strong plan for health so we can build a better region.
“I thank the staff and residents for the opportunity to tour the facility and talk with them, the MPS is important to the Manilla district and I look forward to doing what I can to assist them in anyway,” Mr Anderson concluded.
