ANDERSON: DIG DEEP THIS WEEKEND AND HELP THOSE IN NEED
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is encouraging locals to dig deep this weekend May 24-25 in aid of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal.
Mr Anderson said that it is only through the generosity of the Australian people that the Salvation Army is able to continue to support people in need.
“The national goal for the Red Shield Appeal Doorknock this year is $10 million, which forms part of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal which aims to raise $80 million across Australia.
“Without the support of communities across the country, The Salvation Army could not reach their goals, the funds of which go directly to support Salvation Army Programs and social services,” Mr Anderson said.
To volunteer for the Red Shield Appeal call 13 SALVOS (13 72 58), or register online at salvos.org.au. To donate to the Red Shield Appeal call 13 72 58, visit salvos.org.au, or in person at any Westpac Bank branch or by posting your cheque to PO Box 9888 in your capital city.
“The Salvation Army also offers a range of services to help people who are struggling financially.
“Moneycare is one of a range of social services provided by the Salvation Army, and is a financial counselling service.
“If you are having difficulty managing your money or bills, paying debts or fines, or even struggling to live on a low income, Moneycare can assist.
“It is a free and confidential service which can help you relieve the stress of financial difficulties, provide options to help your situation and help plan for your future.
“I encourage anyone experiencing financial hardship to contact the local Moneycare service in Tamworth on 6771 4010 for assistance,” Mr Anderson concluded.
