ANDERSON ATTENDS CLONTARF ACADEMY TRAINING SESSION
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson and Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli today attended an early morning football training session with Oxley High School Clontarf Academy students.
Mr Anderson said that he was very impressed with the skill level of the boys at the training session.
“In addition, the young men at the academy were very polite, respectful of each other and displayed great mateship.
“The Clontarf Foundation does a fantastic job to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment opportunities of young Aboriginal men.
“The Foundation uses the existing passion that Aboriginal boys have for football to attract them into school and keep them there.
“These boys need a little bit extra to keep them motivated and engaged, they get to do some unique things, but in order to participate in other activities they must turn up for school.
“After the football training session we joined the students for breakfast, enjoying some of the best pancakes in the North-West, with Minister Piccoli presenting school attendance awards to some of the boy’s.
“It was a pleasure to be at the training session this morning with the Minister for Education, I thoroughly enjoyed the boy’s hospitality and congratulate the Clontarf Foundation for the wonderful work that they do,” Mr Anderson concluded.
