ANDERSON ANNOUNCES RECORD BUDGET FOR TAMWORTH ELECTORATE
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced that significant investment has continued in the Tamworth electorate with a record $248 million being allocated in the 2014-15 NSW State Budget.
“This is a result of the hard work over the last 12 months with these funds allowing further investment for key projects to continue, like the Tamworth Hospital Redevelopment, Chaffey Dam Upgrade and the Gunnedah Rail Overpass”, Mr Anderson said.
“$85 million has been announced for the continuation of the Tamworth Hospital Redevelopment and undoubtedly this continues to be the biggest and most significant investment that has been made in decades, bringing our health facilities to the best standard.
“Water security is a major issue for our region and much needed funding for Chaffey Dam will go a long way to alleviating pressure on our water supply with funding for Chaffey Augmentation of $19.2million and Chaffey Dam Upgrade Phase 2 funding of $12.372million.
“The requirement for a second road over rail pass is vital for Gunnedah and $800,000 has been allocated for further planning to ensure that we get this bridge right including access to key streets.
Further highlights of the 2014-15 Budget for the Tamworth electorate include:
- Replacement of the bridge over Manilla/Boggabri Road at Boggabri - $7.5million
- Tamworth TAFE Campus Upgrade - $6.6 million
- Keepit Dam Upgrade Phase 1 - $6million
- Tangaratta Bridge Upgrade - $5million
- Upgrading Oxley Highway at Westdale - $4million
- Dampier Street roundabout on Oxley Highway - $3million
“I have worked hard on behalf of our communities to build relationships with Ministers in the Government, building business cases for our critical requirements as well as focussing on these new projects and ensuring we receive our fair share. I am pleased to see that this hard work has been rewarded to the electorate.
“This Budget is great news for the Tamworth electorate and I will continue to build on the investment to keep the Tamworth electorate moving ensuring growth, job creation and prosperity.
