ANDERSON PUSHING HARD
FOR DESTINATION OUTBACK HEADQUARTERS
The headquarters of Destination Outback will soon be decided with an Expression of Interest (EOI) now open to local councils in the Tamworth electorate.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson MP said determining the location of each Destination Network office would involve all local councils in the relevant regions being given an opportunity to express their interest in hosting the headquarters, followed by an assessment process by each Destination Network Board.
Each Destination Network headquarters will house three full-time staff, including a General Manager, which will support the work of the board and tourism projects and programs in the respective regions.
“I have already flagged our interest and now encourage our local councils, Tamworth Regional Council, Gunnedah Shire Council, Walcha Shire Council and Liverpool Plains Shire Council to lodge an EOI as soon as possible for the chance to capitalise on the NSW Government’s innovative new tourism model.
“Our region has the expertise, talent base and necessary professional networks to support this new organisation in its development stages so it makes sense that Destination NSW look to the Tamworth electorate to house the head office.
“I will continue to lobby the Minister at every opportunity, I know he is very familiar with our region and I hope he will join with us in seeing the benefits in locating the office right here in regional NSW’s tourism success story,” Mr Anderson concluded.
The EOI will close on Friday 17 March 2017 and is available for viewing on the Destination NSW website together with lodgement details.
