Appleby Lane in Tamworth will become a lot safer thanks to joint funding to upgrade the intersection on Manilla Road.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson was joined today by Tamworth Regional Council Mayor Col Murray and Member for New England Barnaby Joyce in announcing the last stage of the $4.3 million dollar project.

Mr Anderson said the work will include the addition of a dedicated right run lane in Appleby Lane for traffic travelling from Manilla, a left turn slip lane for traffic travelling from Tamworth to run into the land and stormwater drainage work.

“Work started today and it will take about eight weeks to complete the upgraded intersection so I am asking motorists to please be patient and take care when approaching that intersection during road works.

“This is a really important part of the road network around Tamworth and this intersection upgrade will complete a $4.3 million major project which started last year on Appleby Lane and aims to better connect areas north of Tamworth to the Glen Artney industrial area.

“It’s a pleasure to see the ongoing work on Manilla road, as we need to continue to look at making our roads safer and providing better connectivity not only for commercial road users, but for mums and dads as well.

“This is a jointly funded project from all three tiers of government, $1.56million from the State Government, $1.19million from Tamworth Regional Council and $1.56million from the Federal Government.
