ANDERSON LAUNCHES FUNDS FOR THE FUTURE
Gunnedah and Manilla have been earmarked for special projects that will help develop their respective CBD areas thanks to NSW Government funding Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson announced today.
Mr Anderson said the Future Towns program provides an opportunity for local communities to identify ways to enliven their local precincts and help businesses grow.
“The quality of regional CBDs is critical to attracting and retaining skilled and talented people drawing new small businesses to the community.
“To have a strong and prosperous region we need to focus on building the capacity in our smaller towns which is why Gunnedah and Manilla will each receive $50,000 each under this program.
“The funding could be used for any number of things including main street activities, temporary pop-up retail spaces, upgrades to street fronts and facades, digital workshops for business and Wi-Fi access in the main street, so we hope to see some exciting things soon.
Mr Anderson said a special consultant will work closely with the local councils to assess initiatives that will work bet for the local community.
“We want to come up with ideas that are going to make a real difference in these communities so it’s great that the Councils will be able to access expert advice.
“This is a great time to capitalise on the business confidence that is in NSW at the moment. We have the nation’s strongest economy and we need to make sure the regional areas have an opportunity to be a part of that success.
“Make no mistake; we are building a better region. By turbo-charging our local economy we can build strong towns and regional cities for the future. It’s all about taking action and getting results,” Mr Anderson concluded.
