ANDERSON KEEPS THE PRESSURE ON RANGARI ROAD PLAN
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said work continues with submissions and lobbying to fund the upgrade and sealing of Rangari Road in the Tamworth and Gunnedah Local Government Areas.
Mr Anderson said he is continuing to work hard and recently met with Roads Minister Melinda Pavey to push the case for the upgrade.
“The commitment by the Gunnedah Shire Council and Tamworth Regional Council to work together on a funding submission to upgrade Rangari Road was great news for those who use it.
“Rangari Road is an important link between Tamworth, Manilla and Boggabri and the increase of daily traffic with the development of mines in the Boggabri area helps the proposal fit under the Resources for Regions criteria.
“This program requires applicants to demonstrate that projects will be constructed to enhance economic growth and productivity in NSW, specifically in regional areas that are mining-related.
“I know that an upgrade will improve road safety, cost savings to motorists in terms of reduced travel times and less ‘wear and tear’ on vehicles, freight and access route for mining and agriculture and direct access from the east to mining operations.
“The length of Rangari Road within the Gunnedah Shire is 18.03kms and preliminary estimates have determined the cost of the total works to be $8.75 million
“We have to do the work and we know hard work pays off.
“Look at the result we achieved when working with the Gunnedah Shire Council and the Federal Government to ensure that Grain Valley Road is going to be upgraded sealed,” Mr Anderson concluded.
