ANDERSON DELIVERS FUNDING FOR BARRABA GOLF CLUB
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has announced $9,695 to upgrade the irrigation system at Barraba Golf Club.
Mr Anderson said the funding comes as part of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Program which saw a total of $50,000 delivered across the Tamworth electorate.
“Barraba Gold Club is a big part of the community so it’s important we fund these projects so that the club can remain sustainable into the future.
“Maintaining the course can come a quite a high cost so anything that we can implement to help reduce those costs is good for the club and good for the community.”
David York from Barraba Golf Club said the money will make maintenance of the course cheaper and easier.
“We’ve currently got two bores, one which is on the way out and another which uses a lot of electricity so it was important to find a solution to make maintaining to course more sustainable.
“With the new system we should reduce our electricity consumption by about 50% which will save the club money and also be better for the environment.”
Mr Anderson said “I want to see a strong vibrant region and to do that we need to ensure places like Barraba are looked after and receive their fair share of funding so that they can grow and prosper.
“In the last 12 months I’ve managed to secure an extra $550,000 for projects within Barraba including $65,000 for Barraba Pastoral Agricultural & Horticultural Association for a new amenities block and $310,000 for a new fire truck.
“To build a better region it is important that we continue to find new projects to invest in and find ways of highlighting some of the fantastic things that are available in Barraba.
“There are always a range of grants available from the NSW Government and I urge people to apply. I will always to my best to ensure we get the best shot at seeing success with those applications,” Mr Anderson concluded.
