ANDERSON DELIVERS $53 MILLION FOR GUNNEDAH HOSPITAL
A $53 million redevelopment of the local hospital will transform health in the Gunnedah community, Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said.
Mr Anderson announced the major funding boost to begin the upgrade and expansion of Gunnedah Hospital if re-elected.
“With this announcement, the people of Gunnedah will get a redeveloped state of the art hospital to serve the community’s needs.
“I want to thank PRAMS, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Local Health Committee, community and Council who have been pushing hard for this upgrade for a long time.
“Parts of this hospital have not been upgraded in more than 50 years.
“If re-elected on March 23 we’ll be starting the planning work as soon possible
“Recently I’ve been able to secure $2.75 million for upgrades including the hospital’s emergency, theatres, clinical sterilization unit, kitchen and ambulance bay.
“But now we will be able to look at the rest of the hospital to bring it in line with state of the art services.
“The patients and staff are at the centre of every hospital redevelopment and we will ensure they are closely involved in planning the buildings and services so that the new health facilities meet their future health needs.
“This significant investment is also projected to deliver 530 jobs.
“Gunnedah is a great place to live and I have no doubt this fantastic redevelopment will go a long way in attracting more quality health care staff to the region.
“Gunnedah plays a very important role in our region and I will continue to work hard on behalf of Gunnedah to make sure we get our fair share of investment,” Mr Anderson concluded.
