ANDERSON CONGRATULATES KATE ARMSTRONG
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has congratulated Tamworth Regional Gallery’s Education Officer Kate Armstrong on winning a scholarship to attend the Art gallery of NSW
Mr Anderson said he was delighted to be able to present Kate with $2,839 which was provided through the NSW Governments 2016 Fellowship, Mentorship and Volunteer Placement Program.
“Kate will spend two weeks with the Learning and Participation Department at the Art Gallery of NSW. The Mentorship will provide direct experience working on the education and public programs at a large institution in the lead up to the Archibald Prize.
“The Fellowship, Mentorship, and Volunteer Placement Program is an Arts NSW devolved funding program administered by Museums and galleries of NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
“I am delight to support Kate in her efforts to gain experience working in larger and more specialised cultural organisations, which will ultimately benefit our local regional gallery in Tamworth.” Mr Anderson said.
Ms Armstrong said this is a fantastic opportunity for skill development, networking and potential partnerships.
“The placement will enable me to build audiences to the TRG, by engaging in the development of education resources and public engagement strategies associated with this and other exhibitions. I am looking forward to working with the Gallery's senior coordinator of education and family programs Victoria Collings and Danielle Gullotta, coordinator of Access Programs and K-6 Schools.
“The skills and knowledge that I will gain in Sydney will be shared with my colleagues in Tamworth and beyond, building key audience engagement strategies for regional and remote audiences.” Mrs Armstrong said
“This partnership will further strengthen Tamworth Regional Gallery’s relationship with the Art Gallery of NSW and continue to open up the gallery so everyone can enjoy what it has to offer.” Mr Anderson concluded.
