$85 MILLION FOR TAMWORTH HOSPITAL IN BUDGET
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today announced that further funding of $85million has been allocated for the continuation of the $220million Tamworth Hospital redevelopment.
Mr Anderson said the continuation of funds for this major hospital in the Tamworth electorate is the biggest and most significant investment that has been made in decades, setting a very high standard of facilities.
“In 2011 I fought hard to secure $220 million in funding for the commencement of the Tamworth Hospital redevelopment which was my major election commitment”, Mr Anderson said.
“The building which is well underway will provide exquisite modern facilities for doctors, nurses and all the hard working staff at the hospital.
“It will include services such as new Emergency Department, Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit, Maternity Unit, Operating Theatres, Paediatric Unit as well as a new Pharmacy.
“I am pleased that this project is on track for a handover in March 2015 with the Bruderlin Wing to be completed shortly after,” Mr Anderson said.
The Bruderlin Building, the current main ward building above the current Emergency Department, will be partially refurbished to house a range of integrated ambulatory care services on the lower floors, and inpatient units on the upper floors.
Other buildings on the campus, including the historic 1883 building, will also be partly refurbished in keeping with heritage requirements.
“Health remains a key concern for our community. This funding investment will assist in attracting doctors, nurses and health professionals to our region to continue to serve the community in their health requirements”, Mr Anderson concluded.
