$600,000 FOR COUNCILS TO CREATE LIVEABLE COMMUNITIES
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is encouraging local councils to enter the Creating Liveable Communities Competition aimed at increasing the liveability of communities in NSW for carers, older people and people with disability.
Mr Anderson said that he encourages local councils to submit the most innovative and impacting projects to receive a share of $600,000 NSW Government funding.
“Entries will not just be assessed on their innovation, but the size of their impact on the community, the extent of community engagement and the way in which they are backed up by evidenced need.
“This is a great competition and opportunity for Tamworth Regional Council and Gunnedah Shire Council to work on ways to foster more liveable communities.
“It is also a great chance to help get many of the innovative and creative ideas of Gunnedah Shire and Tamworth Regional Council off the ground.”
“Being in a liveable community means living without physical or mental barriers in place, where everyone considers the vulnerable to ensure physical accessibility and social inclusion, it makes for a happy and healthy community overall,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Entries are now open and close on 12 December 2014. For more information or to submit an application visit www.lgnsw.org.au.
