Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School, Peel High School and Tamworth High School will receive major upgrades, Education Minister Adrian Piccoli and Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson announced today.

Visiting Farrer Memorial Agricultural High today, Mr Piccoli said the school will receive an upgrade of its boarding accommodation facilities as well as new industrial technology facilities.

“The new and refurbished accommodation will include dormitory spaces, common rooms and associated amenities,” Mr Piccoli said.

“Boarding students represent 60 per cent of the total student population at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School.

“Three-quarters of students at the school undertake at least one industrial technology course and this project will upgrade these facilities.

“The project includes separate wood and metal technology workshops, and provides general learning spaces, specialised spaces and storage, with an outdoor covered workshop.

“The new facilities are expected to be completed by January 2018.”

Mr Anderson said two other local high schools will also benefit from NSW Government initiatives to improve the condition and amenity of schools.

“Tamworth High School and Peel High School will have upgrades to enhance their functionality, amenity, maintenance condition and how they present to their community,” Mr Anderson said.

“This is the investment I have been pushing for. Our schools are important and we need to provide the best for teachers and students in our region.”
