$3 MILLION INVESTMENT FOR OXLEY HIGHWAY RAMPS UP
Motorists will soon benefit from a newly resurfaced section of the Oxley Highway with work beginning on a four kilometre section east of Somerton on Monday.
Member for Tamworth said the resurfacing work will provide a smoother road and reducing ongoing maintenance and is being carried out as part of the NSW Government’s $1.5 billion maintenance program.
“The Oxley Highway provides a vital link between the centres of Gunnedah and Tamworth,” Mr Anderson said.
“This essential maintenance is part of an ongoing commitment to ensure the Oxley Highway remains safe and reliable for the thousands of motorists who use it every day.
“The project should be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
“To allow for this work to be carried out safely and efficiently there will be some changes to traffic conditions.
“Traffic will be reduced to one lane, alternate flow during work hours and motorists can expect minor delays.
“I am asking motorists to be patient during this time and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” Mr Anderson concluded.
