$28,000 for Ronald McDonald House to Expand
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson today announced a grant of $28,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Tamworth.
Mr Anderson said he was pleased to be able to throw his support behind Ronald McDonald’s application through the Community Building Partnerships Program.
“This money will allow the house to extend and create an additional room for families to increase the rooms available to five,” Mr Anderson said.
“The house will also build a retreat for families allowing for personal space when going through difficult times.”
Ronald McDonald House Manager Chris Watson said it was a huge relief to hear that they had received the funding.
“Ronald McDonald relies mainly on fundraising, and this announcement has taken pressure off the house,” Mr Watson said.
“It means that we are able to undertake the work a lot quicker than expected and will be able to provide more space for families in need.”
Mr Anderson said that the new room will allow the house to cater for an additional 90 families per year.
“Each year there are about 350 families that stay at the Ronald McDonald House and there have been some 9000 families use the facility since it opened six years ago,” he said.
“I would again like to congratulate Chris Watson and the volunteers for they wonderful work that they do in providing a home away from home in what is often a difficult time for families.”
