$1MILLION ON OFFER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is encouraging community groups, councils, non-profit and environmental organisations to apply for a share of $1million in Environmental Education grants.
Mr Anderson said this is an opportunity for local groups to access much needed funding to assist in bettering our local environment.
“This program invests in educational projects that develop the community’s knowledge, skills and commitment to protecting the environment.
“We have a diverse local environment and different local areas face their own individual environmental challenges so it’s important that the community can be educated on their local surroundings.
“The Environmental Education Program grants offer funding of between $5,000 and $100,000 each.”
About 50 per cent of the funding is allocated to initiatives led by community organisations and 50 per cent to state and local government led initiatives.
The application process has two stages: firstly, expressions of interest are lodged and then applicants will be invited to submit full proposals during the second, invitation-only stage.
Over $1million was awarded to 16 projects aimed at protecting the environment in the last round of grants.
Expressions of interest close on 8 April 2016.
