$10M MILLION COMMUNITY SAFETY FUND TO SUPPORT LOCAL PROJECTS - ANDERSON
\Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is reminding community members to submit applications for the final round of the Community Safety Fund, which closes on Friday, 10 August 2018.
He said the $10 million fund provides grants of up to $250,000 to non-government or not-for-profit organisations, councils, community groups, chambers of commerce and businesses for community safety initiatives with a crime prevention focus.
“This fund supports grass roots projects that addresses local crime hot spots, anti-social behaviour in communities, safer and inclusive use of public space and promotes collaborative approaches to community safety, crime reduction, prevention and detection initiatives.
“While the fund is open to all communities, there is a particular emphasis on Aboriginal communities, disadvantaged groups, regional and remote communities.
“I urge unsuccessful applicants from the first and second funding round to redevelop their applications and apply for funding in this current round.
“For information on crime prevention strategies, please refer to the Department of Justice website www.crimeprevention.nsw.gov.au
“This includes examples of infrastructure projects that support environmental crime prevention through design enhancements and facilities upgrades to help improve community safety, security and confidence in public places, particularly those subject to anti-social behaviour,” Mr Anderson concluded.
The NSW Government established the $10 million Community Safety Fund to support local projects to improve community safety over a four year period. 2018 will be the third funding round under this program.
